Metal Thickness Upgrade

Available in Two Thicknesses for Steel Used on the Sides and Roof

Sheet metal is metal formed into thin, flat pieces. In the U.S., the thickness of metal is specified by a traditional, non-linear measure known as its gauge. The larger the gauge number, the thinner the metal. Thicknesses range from 30 gauge to about 7 gauge.

Why Choose a Thicker Metal? Superior Resistance to Dents, Dings and Damage. Our Premium Model includes 26-gauge but you may also upgrade from 29 to 26 if you are having us build our Standard Model.

As Thickness Increases, the Gauge Decreases…Why?

The explanation comes from the original development of a gauge measurement system in which the control measurement was based on 1” thick steel plate. From this base thickness, the steel was measured in diminishing fractions such as 1/14”, 1/16”, 1/20” and so on. The bottom number of the fraction was adopted as the “gauge” and so 1/15” became 15 gauge, 1/26” became 26 gauge.
